On the road again

Postby Carl » Wed May 02, 2012 6:36 am

Back on the road. After being hauled back from Sanford the other evening, found the coil was bad and the distributor shorting inside. Went to my VW parts trailer and found another dist and coil, put them on and now ready for Sunday again.
Aslo picked up a set of front forks complete with caliper and disc on the rime and tire. Soon to put it on and then have three wheel brakes.
I am thinking about just hooking it into the master cylinder that is already on the tryke that way I won't have to buy a motorcycle master cylinder. Only problem is that I am not sure how to go about it. I think I will have to install a porportining valve? The reason is to keep the front from locking up when I apply the brakes. Bob have you had your wing out lately? Carl

 Carl, how have you been, fine I hope. Back in my V-dub days, we would run a 009 distributor and a blue Bosch coil. Glad to hear that you got your ride going again. Take care and be careful on the tryke. Don B.

The coil is on order, but can't get Bosh any more so must go with aftermarket. The distributor was a breeze to install once I found out how the wires go. Simple, red to hot side of the coil and black to neg or distributor side. Getting ready to build me a remote ignition switch so I can work on it from behind. (ok all you dirty minded people take a pill and cool off) easier than getting up and down to turn the igniton on and off. Bob, good looking addition. Now you will be in the cool all the time and won't want to go outside during summer. :P Carl

Carl. Sure was nice of bo to build you a room. For when you move in. Looks like a real nice view out of it. Nice work bo.
I don't talk to myself this early in the morning. Why should I talk to you. The clean version.

Naa, the view is not that good. Look out the back and you see a large privacy fence, look to the door side and you see power lines. Look to the other side and you see a street. But it sure is nice an quiet on that neighborhood, that is except when Bob starts that darn Gold Wing. Of course if I took my tryke up there my headers would dround him out. Shucks, that is a good idea, might buy a trailer large enough to haul my tryke on and take a trip up there. Might consider that. Guess I could put a matress in the back of my pick up to sleep in on the way. Carl

Hey Carl---This brings back great memories. When I was a kid (about 65 yrs ago) I stayed a lot with my grandad. He raised and sold watermelons. He cut a bunch of johnson grass and put in the back of the pick-up to put the watermelons on to keep them from busting open.
That night after selling the melons, grandmother gave me and my brother an old quilt to lay on the grass. What a way to fall asleep looking at the stars.

Travis. You bring back a lot of memories. I used to sleep in the hay in the winter time. On the side of the barn out of the wind. And before you get going Carl and bo. That is all I did.

Carl just remember, before you goto sleeping on that mattress from Curbside Supply you might want to do a little solar bedbug killing. Wrap it up in black plastic and let Mother nature keep it above 150° for a couple hours.

Far as the trike is concerned why can't it be towbared? Worked well on Harley Servicars.
