Well finally got around to working on the CC1024 24 hp B&S engine today. Had ordered the parts and they arrived middle of last week so figured Memorial Day would be the best time to tackle the job.
After reading a lot on here, Youtube videos and the repair manual, I took it apart, replaced the cylinder head and installed the push rods, adjusted the valves, put her all back together, changed the oil and filter along with replacing the air filter, started it up and wow what a difference. It cuts grass like never before, doesn't chug a bit with taller stuff, slow just a little bit when engaging the blades but catches right up. I swear, it's never run this well making me think it never had push rods at all in cylinder 2.
It runs like a brand new mower but it has over 300 hours on it.
Happy Memorial Day to everyone!
