PPE Congress gone bye-bye?

Postby bgsengine » Wed Jun 13, 2012 9:16 am

One of my regular "lurks" is the Professional Power Equipment Congress board - www.ppecongress.com - I'm sure others here also visit that board - but it has been down for way over 24 hours, (it is on godaddy hosting, though..) so one tends to wonder if the board will be coming back - if anyone else may know?

I wondered too. There is not a lot of activity lately, possibly because everybody is so busy right now.

Yep. Ive been monitoring - shortly before it came back fully, I saw the Apache server default page, later on got a 403 error due to no index page, and then noticed the forum restored but newest post was in July, 2009 .. couple days later spotted it all back up and running -

Diagnosis: The web server (hosted and managed by godaddy) experienced a catastrophic hard drive failure - unrecoverable data - machine brought back online eventually (wow, Slow tech support, ain't they? when I worked at a data Center in Miami, if I could not have a server back up and running and 600 GB restored in an hour or less from the time it went down, including travel time to the datacenter from home, (if I was on call 24/7) , I got my butt chewed off for being slow!) , and then whomever leased the server (reseller selling godaddy hosting) got around to it, they restored the backups , and probably the forum admin restored more recent backup.
