Honda HT-R 3009

Postby rustic » Mon Jun 11, 2012 11:22 am

Hello all, I am new to site , so bear with me please. I just got this old rider and need some help. This mower will not crank, solenoid clicks. I replaced solenoid that was bolted to frame on rear side of frame. Still clicks, then noticed that the starter had a solenoid attached at bottom of starter motor. Should this rider have 2 solenoids or do I remove one. Can not find wiring diagram except for one in owners manual. It is pretty vague.

Hi Rustic,
One time I needed a Honda GXV 270 engine so I called around and got ahold of a guy who had one. But it was in a mower and he wanted 350 for the works he didnt want to sell the engine alone. I went to look at it and it was a HT R 3009 beautiful shape and well cared for. I gave him the money and got it home and ran the engine. No probs there. Then I got thinking this is a nice mower! Checked it out more and found bent blade arbor took it out and noted that it was an expensive piece -- had splines etc. Straightened that (0.0005 TIR) and put in one new bearing. The end result is that I really like the mower and I still need a GXV 270.

Your engine has the starter solenoid on the starter. Put 12 v. on the starter solenoid small terminal. Starter should crank engine. There is a small relay that powers the starter solenoid. It is the second from the left when you look from the back of the mower.
