I've seen some instances of water/moisture ingestion as you describe.
If this has occured, the grease/lubricant will usually turn a brown color
and tend to get hard/thick. About all you can do is remove the parts that
are affected, clean up, and replace with new grease. Not sure if Spicer uses
or recommends any kind of silicon film to seal the case halves, but it's not a
bad idea to prevent future water from entering. Pressure washing is a good
way water can get inside, so sealing the case is a good thing.T-Man
