Don't be so quick to jump on rings without doing some trouble shooting / diagnostic testing.
These don't like heat and will blow a head gasket fairly easily. Clean it up, do what you will w/ the
head. Then check it out good. I've done a fair amt of head gaskets and 0 ring jobs in seven yrs.
