Working on a troybilt TB80EC trimmer , 41ADT80C966 for a friend of a friend. Friend's friend says it won't run. It popped off acouple of times for me, then nothing. Machine is about 18 mos old, seems to have good compression but I no tester. Unit has a great spark with the plug out, jumping more than a quarter inch.I can give the carb a squirt of fuel, but no attmept to fire The spark plug wire makes a pretty tight turn from the shroud down to the plug. Think maybe bad plug, or a break in the plug wire whe it attached to the plug. It has a troy bilt #794-00055 in it, I have cross referenced on Parts Tree to 753-06193. Want to get locally, is the Champion RDJ7Y the correct replacement? Atleast this will rule out one possibility.

I already cleaned the muffler, arrestor screen an removed a slight carbon build-up from the exhaust port. If the key is sheared or the ring stuck, so is the owner! I will suggest he peruse my vast collection of used trimmers for sale at reasonable prices.
