elk_fence.jpg - The elk fence looking West toward Mt Rainer from the top of Cowiche mountain. This was taken where the Eastern loop trail meets the Western loop trail. As you can see the fence is heavily supported due to the fire and high winds on top of the mountain. The small white spot to the left of the fence in the distance is actually a sign where there is a one way elk gate for any elk that happen to get on the wrong side of the fence. A person can actually walk through this spring loaded gate easily to access the Oak Creek Wildife Area land.
