  cowiche_mt_fire2.jpg - The following morning, I took this picture from our home. You can see the fire spared the lithsol areas (shallow rocky soil). These are the first areas to bloom in the Spring and covered with wildflowers. The darker areas are the deeper soil where the Tall Sagebrush and dried grasses burned in a very hot wind driven fire.
