prairie_smoke.jpg - Prairie Smoke (Geum triflorum var. ciliatum) Also called Purple Avens or Old Man's Whiskers. This flower looks like a vase shaped bud hanging down, but opens up to a seedhead that has many small fuzzy tentacles the color of smoke. Look for it through out the meadow.
